Know What Makes an Engine Core Acceptable

A core is the used engine returned after a replacement unit is purchased under a core-exchange program. The supplier evaluates it for rebuildability. If the return meets the stated requirements, the core deposit is credited back according to the terms of the sale.

A usable core does not need to be running. It may have failed internally, have low compression, consume oil, or need major machine work.
